Thirteen reasons why I’m thankful- Part 2

Hello and welcome to the start of a brand new week! Its also part 2 of the 13 reasons why I’m thankful post. As I mentioned in part 1, I have so much to be thankful for. I have just chosen 13 otherwise the post would just go on forever. So let’s get things started!!

Marvel Cinematic Universe

Now, if you have followed my instagram account for a while, you will see bits of Marvel on my feed. This is a family affair. My son is 8 months old today, he is a fan too, he has no choice in the matter!! The Marvel Cinematic Universe is a wonderful thing and has been the centre of our family since the first Iron Man.

My daughter and I have always liked Marvel movies. I went to see the first Thor with the friend of a friend as a friend. By the time we got to Dr Strange, this friend of a friend had become my husband. We have never missed a Marvel movie in the cinema. We own all of the movies (Infinity War isn’t out yet) and Disney store has taken a bit of our money 🤣 We are suckers for a bit of merchandise lol. Is this movie franchise life? Of course it is and if you dont know, get to know, you are missing out. And yes, I said what I said…get you some Marvel in your life!!

Music

Potentially, this could be a very long section, but I’m sure this will be a post all on its own at some point. I have an eclectic taste when it comes to music. I put this down to being born in the 80’s and raised in the 90’s. My music collection ranges from The Police to Barbara Streisand, Beenie Man to Chaka Khan, and Coldplay to Destra. I love me some Kendrick Lamar, Dave, JME, Hillsong, Kirk Franklin, the list goes on. Music for me is best when it’s live! I do love a good concert😍

Music has always been a massive part of my life. There are songs that I hear, up until this day that transport me back to a time, a memory. Ace of Base, The Sign takes me back to a school trip to Germany when I was in year 8 lol! I love music. I’ll be one of the first to say, ‘they don’t make em like they used to’. At the same time I can appreciate the new stuff. I’m thankful for music because it makes me feel. It helps me through stuff at times. It also makes me super happy most of the time.

My friends

I love my friends! I actually class them as family. I have been blessed with friends I can laugh and cry with. If anyone of us is going through something, we are all going through something together. It’s a ride or die type of relationship. The love is so strong, we rebuke each other from a place of love. This isn’t always appreciated, but if your so called friends can’t tell you about yourself, do they even like you? My friends are the type of people who tell me to check myself before I wreck myself. They help me to grow as an individual. I love my girls, they are the bomb.com and I would not exchange them for anything. These guys are more like my sisters.

Ability to travel

I have been fortunate to travel to so many places. I am so thankful, as I know not everybody has this opportunity. There are still many places I am yet to visit, but I’ve not done too badly. I have been to Sierra Leone, Ghana, Morocco and Cape Verde in Africa. In the Caribbean, I’ve been to St Vincent, Trinidad and Barbados. I’ve been to Germany, Luxembourg, France, Belgium, Netherlands and Sweden. I have also travelled to various places in the UK. Oh, I’ve also been to Las Vegas…that is an experience I won’t forget!

Blogging

I have tweeted a little bit about this in a few Twitter chats. Blogging has been an amazing experience for me. It’s been my therapy at times, as well as my creative space. I’ve started posting regularly, now I’m on maternity leave. When I talk about blogging, I have to mention my dear friend Lauren, aka Saharasplash. This girl introduced me to the blogging world 2 years ago, and I’ve not looked back. She helped me set up my blog and invited me to events, she still does in fact. I’m thankful because, when I started, I was having a tough time in my career. Things were not going the way I wanted them to. It was a period of growth and change. It turned out to be okay in the end, but it was a difficult journey.

My Relationship with Hills

Hills aka This Leo Loves is my sister from another mister. She is all up on my Instagram feed, but with good reason. How do I sum up our relationship? Cousin by blood, sisters by choice. When you meet us, we will often say we are sisters and we are. The way we have each other’s back is unreal. We have had so many adventures and experiences together. We have laughed, cried and fought but the bond is not easily broken. Over the years we have just got closer and closer. As an only child, it made sense that I would gravitate towards her. Hills is my big sister, she was my Maid of Honour. My hen trip was a lit-uation because of her planning. Sis, I’m so thankful for your life, you have no idea.

Thankful for Life Itself!

Wow! If I didn’t have life, the 12 things previously listed wouldnt mean a thing! Each morning I wake up, I’m thankful. Tomorrow isn’t promised, so the fact I get to see another day is an absolute blessing. I may not be exactly where I want to be, but waking up each day gives me time to work towards my goals to get to that place.

This concludes part 2 of the 13 reasons why I’m thankful. If you missed part 1, click here

Until next time,
